My Apple/iPhone Dissapointment Rant
Let me know if I missed something, but is anyone else pissed off that Apple didn’t address the following items yesterday?
- Copy/Paste Functionality
- MMS Messages that actually SEND AN IMAGE to your phone
- Video Conferencing Rumors
- Home Screen Customization/Wallpapers
- Flash Integration
- Better Mail and Photo Functionality/Management (yes, there will be MobileMe)
I dont know, I was not super impressed yesterday..I wanted more. I wanted iPhone 2.0 to be as big a step forward as the original one was to existing phones. The new iphone is an upgrade, it will certainly be faster - but besides a sexy look Apple needs to make their 2.0’s be revolutionary, because everyone else seems to be catching up to them now. I would say MobileMe was somewhat innovative and exciting - but Google already provides this sort of all-in-one Suite and it DOESN’T cost 100 bucks/year.
Update : -100 points for Apple lowering the iPhone cost but striking a deal where ATT can raise all data pricing. What a great way to get people who cant afford an iphone buy an iphone.
Interesting?

Google’s Android
I haven’t decided yet if Google’s approach to marketing Android is brilliant or not. Because, well, they’ve really made no public awareness outside of the professional dev industry. I’m not sure that Google holds the same pre-launch powers that Apple does. I dont think they deliver the hype.
This could be their hope though, i guess, because Android is very much just in development at this time. It’s only been shown at a few conferences and demos. (PS - I’ve seen some pretty brilliant stuff). But the main focus right now for Google is to get the developers developing, and it looks like they’re all very hard at work. I’m just hoping they (or their platform distributors) can translate the developer excitement over to the consumers.
Organic, Naturally
I am tired of the words Natural and Organic determining whether or not someone purchases food.
The big guys defnitely had a great meeting. They decided that their best-selling food products are natural (or at least can be)! And they’re willing to spend the extra .05 cents per package to add the word on the box. Why? Because the market indicates they can gain 20-50 cents per box by adding one of those two little words. Why? Because buying that way makes people feel like they are making a positive, lifestyle-changing purchase that helps them and their environment. Because that’s what it’s all about.
Don’t get me wrong, there are many positive factors associated with buying organic, non-chemical/pesticide produce and meats. Such chemicals have been linked to autism, cancer, and even asthma. It’s a serious issue that the industry isnt taking seriously as they should be…because even though the packaging sings a lovely tune, there’s still a whole lot of organic and natural crap out there.
Keep it in mind.
